CA-04: McClintock is in.

Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 01:12:10 PM PDT

I just watched Tom McClintock announce that he's running for Congress in CA-04. His announcement comes even though he doesn't live in the district, in fact he represents Ventura County in the California State Senate. At the conclusion of his remarks the reporters immediately went after him on his residency and he wouldn't even commit to move to the district during the campaign, only if he wins. What a carpetbagger.

Highlights from his prepared remarks below:

NH Republican Misfits Spew Blatant Homophobia

Sun Mar 18, 2007 at 04:41:33 PM PDT

For those unaware of the Ray Buckley for state chair saga in NH, here is a good link to the Union Leader. for a pretty fair summary of the situation. They have links to all the previous articles if you need more history.

Don’t be fooled by the latest attack on Ray Buckley. It’s nothing more than blatant homophobia.

NH-Draft Gore Meets

Wed Feb 28, 2007 at 06:46:26 PM PDT

I just got back from the first ever NH-Draft Gore meet-up and I am very excited. The meeting was covered by WBZ-TV (CBS) in Boston and the Nashua Telegraph. There were about 15 people there including two state representatives who are willing to publically support the effort.

In the coming weeks the group is going to work on building more support, signing up members, and earning media attention. They are planning to set up information tables at a few Democratic Party events and at college campuses, starting with UNH.

[update] Here is the link to the story on WBZ.

It quotes State Senator Lou D'Allesandro who seems to be open to a Gore candidacy.

Inconvenient Truth Gets The Nomination We All Expected

Tue Jan 23, 2007 at 11:47:43 AM PDT

Al Gore's movie gets the Oscar nomination. See the ABC News link (AP story) below.

ABC NEWS

I haven't seen a diary about this so I though I should write one. This is great news for the global warming movement because it will lead to additional exposure for the issue. I would also argue that this is great news for Al Gore.

Al Gore/Inconvenient Truth Parties

Thu Dec 14, 2006 at 10:25:16 AM PDT

I am overwhelmed with the response to my Al Gore house party. I signed-up to host a party a couple of days ago fully expecting that the party would consist of myself, my roomate, and a couple of friends who hadn't seen the movie yet. I wanted to do my part to stop Global Warming and try to build some buzz about Al Gore running for President. Little did I know that dozens of people from my community would sign-up.

I had to move the event to a bigger venue to fit the amount of people that signed-up. If you haven't signed-up to attend ot host a party ... do it now at algore.com

Gore's new website

Fri Dec 08, 2006 at 06:27:13 AM PDT

Al Gore has launched a new website, http://www.algore.com/... The site is pretty basic but there is something to note: the site is registered under Roy Neel, Gore's longtime political advisor.

I've been incredibly gratified by the response to An Inconvenient Truth. I'm extremely proud of all the work the team put into the film and it feels like it came at a crucial time. But now comes the hard work. We have to take this message to Washington. And we can't do it without you.

We have to build the political will to do what has to be done. Luckily, in America, political will is a renewable resource.

Help Al Gore Take Our Message To Congress`

Thu Dec 07, 2006 at 01:57:36 PM PDT

Al Gore is asking us to write post cards urging our members of Congress to take action on Global Warming. You can write a post card on his website.

I hope people will take this opportunity to stand with Al Gore and urge Congress to do something about the global crisis we are facing.

Gore was also on the Today Show. It was already blogged about but I think he did a terrific job. Matt Lauer really pressed him on the P2008 question. video here. Lauer was kind to Gore, he even asked him why he would give up a world stage and pass on running for President. Gore would not rule out running again.

Al Gore: Oscar Winner?

Thu Nov 16, 2006 at 08:09:23 PM PDT

It appears "An Inconvenient Truth" is in the final running for an Academy Award.

The academy narrowed the list of potential nominees down to 15. Gore's movie made the first round. The final decision will be made at the end of January and the actual award presentations are at the end of February.

Full Academy Award finalist listing here.

Prove Em Wrong! You Have The Power To Draft Gore in 2008

Fri Apr 21, 2006 at 05:11:38 AM PDT

Earlier today Chris Bowers took a shot at the Draft Gore movement. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Gore and I expect that trend to continue.

Bowers takes some pretty cheap shots at Gore and the movement but, he does make a few good points.

His most important point is to ...

Buzz about Gore up: Roy Neel joins Gore's staff (UPDATED)

Mon Apr 17, 2006 at 12:16:59 PM PDT

Just wanted to share a couple of things. Lots of buzz about Gore out there today.

Gore hires Dean's campaign manager, Roy Neel via Political Wire. It appears Neel is going to be helping in the global warming campaign. This is yet another sign Gore is thinking about running.

Clinton vs. Gore

Thu Apr 13, 2006 at 01:38:30 PM PDT

Vote for Gore in this CNBC poll

Clinton or Gore?

'Kudlow & Company' wants to know which Democratic heavyweight would get your vote in a presidential primary.

Hillary or the non-Hillary? That could be the choice for Democrats in the 2008 presidential primaries.

Many in the party are excited about a potential run by New York Sen. Hillary Clinton. Others, though, think she's too polarizing to win the general election.

Former Vice President Al Gore might present himself as the candidate with the best shot at recapturing the White House for the party.

Another blog for Gore (with poll)

Mon Apr 10, 2006 at 06:19:53 PM PDT

Lots of people continue to talk about Gore 2008! I am excited about this because I believe that Gore was cheated out of the election in 2000. Unfortunately, at the time, there was no blogosphere to bitch and complain about the fact that the Republicans stole the election from us.

I hope Al Gore considers running in 2008. I am with him 100% and I have a feeling a lot of readers on this blog are big fans too.

McCain Breaks His Own Campaign Finance Law

Thu Apr 06, 2006 at 11:30:46 AM PDT

The Union Leader reported today that the NH Republican State Senate Victory PAC is breaking the law and accepting corporate contributions at an event connected with none other then Senator John McCain, a.k.a. Mr. Campaign Finance Reform. Republican State Senate President Ted Gatsas admitted that corporate checks have already been accepted for the event, even though the invitation he sent out clearly states that, "No corporate or labor funds will be accepted." Under McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance reform laws, federal office holders are prohibited from soliciting corporate or labor donations unless it is for a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. This is a clear violation of that law.

Current TV Expands Reach (with poll)

Mon Mar 27, 2006 at 09:14:38 AM PDT

Al Gore's cable network Current will be available in 8 million more households. Current and Comcast have reached an agreement to expand the network. That brings the total network distribution to 28 million. This network has made huge gains in the short time, less than a year, it has been on the air.

Current is changing the way TV works. The network allows real people to submit video pods they create to the stations website. Once uploaded to the site, viewers vote on the best pods which are then shown on the air. About 20% of content on Current is viewer created. Some of the content is political and some is not. I encourage everyone to check out their website and view some sample pods.

Open Thread: Gore on C-Span

Sun Mar 19, 2006 at 03:00:00 PM PDT

Gore's speech to the Florida Democratic Party on March 12 will be broadcast tonight at 6:30 pm and again at 9:30 pm (Eastern time) on C-Span.

I can't wait to see it. I heard the blew the top off of the house and a few in the crowd actually chanted Gore 2008!

P.S. Another call for Gore to run in 2008 can be found here: http://www.americanchronicle.com/...

Democratic Congressman Pushes for Gore to Run Again

Thu Mar 16, 2006 at 07:47:17 PM PDT

It appears that some of the establishment is starting to get behind Gore. A Democratic Congressman from Virginia is calling on Gore to run in 2008. That does not seem to be good news for Mark Warner, seeing as this guy is from Virginia. A Gore candidacy seems to be gaining steam. I have even heard a rumor that Gore may be traveling to New Hampshire to do a party fundraiser. If this is true it is a sure sign he intends to run.

Fineman: Gore A Real Candidate

Tue Mar 14, 2006 at 06:52:29 PM PDT

A Gore candidacy is starting to gain some credibility.

On this weekend's Chris Matthews show Howard Fineman had this to say:

Mark my word the movie about Al Gore and his crusade on global warming is gonna turn him not into, only into a cult figure on the campaign trail but a real candidate."

Gore has given over 1,000 presentations with his signature slide show showing the devastating effects of global warming. In addition, Gore's new movie will hit the theaters at the end of May.

What do Dick Morris and Roger Stone Have In Common? (With Poll)

Wed Feb 22, 2006 at 08:44:26 PM PDT

They both wrote about Al Gore running for President today. I don't like the authors but I like the subject matter.

Dick Morris is here:

http://www.thehill.com/...

and Roger Stone is here:

http://www.observer.com/...

Something is happening out there. He is making all of the moves a candidate for President should be making at this point in time. The next step is to see if he starts to help '06' candidates raise money. I heard that Gore may be hosting a fundraiser for Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. That would be a clear indication he is considering a run.
